West Virginia University alumni continue to show their devotion to their alma mater by contributing more than $1 million for scholarships and the WVU Alumni Association.

More than 60 active chapters across the United States and internationally, were able to raise more than $1 million so that alumni chapters can continue to work tirelessly to engage and connect with graduates of WVU. Through outreach programs, service events, student recruitment and networking opportunities, alumni chapters serve as an extended arm of the Alumni Association in forming communities of Mountaineers across the world.

“Our alumni chapters, leaders, and communities should be extremely proud of their accomplishments in reaching this monumental goal,” said Sean Frisbee, president, and CEO of the WVU Alumni Association. “This is a clear demonstration of the significant role West Virginia University Alumni Association members and chapters play in the everyday successes of our University.”

Malene Davis, chair of the West Virginia University Alumni Association Board of Directors said this is exactly the type of achievement WVU can expect from alumni.

“As a lifetime member of the WVU Alumni Association, it is so heartwarming to see the direct results of the time and effort our volunteers put into their alma mater,” Davis said. “No matter where our graduates reside, it’s an amazing sense of pride to know we’re making a difference for our past, present and future Mountaineers.”

Recently, alumni chapters were added to Boston, Greater Detroit and the Gulf Cooperation Council, which consists of the Arabian Gulf states. To find a chapter near your location, visit the Chapters section at alumni.wvu.edu.

This announcement comes on the heels of the close of the “A State of Minds Campaign,” which surpassed its $1 billion goal and ended Dec. 31, with more than $1.2 billion raised.
