The WVU College of Law has been named a "best value" by The National Jurist and preLaw Magazine.
The National Jurist and preLaw Magazine have once again named West Virginia University College of Law a best value.
WVU Law scored an A-, which is a higher grade than 160 other law schools approved by the American Bar Association.
The publications selects Best Value Law Schools based on bar passage and employment rates, tuition, cost of living and average student indebtedness upon graduation.
“WVU Law’s consistent recognition as a Best Value Law School, year after year, shows just how deeply committed we are to providing students with affordable, high quality legal education that leads to meaningful careers,” said Gregory W. Bowman, dean of the College of Law.
WVU Law’s Class of 2016 employment rate for full-time, long-term Bar Passage Required and J.D. Advantage jobs is 76.5 percent — almost four points higher than the national average. The college’s bar passage rate for July 2017 first-time exams takers is 78%, which is four points higher than the July 2016 national average.
WVU Law also awards approximately $2.9 million a year in scholarships and grants, which helps keep student loan debt to about $29,000 less than the national average.
The annual Best Value Law School rankings are published in the fall issues of The National Jurist and preLaw Magazine.
