One West Virginia University alumnus spent a career in medicine, but he so enjoyed his multi-disciplinary studies he's establishing scholarships in the liberal arts.

Leukemia Research Foundation supports cancer research at WVU

Researchers at West Virginia University are hard at work trying to solve the vexing problem of why some people diagnosed with devastating diseases such as leukemia and bone marrow failure do not respond effectively to standard treatments. Dr. Wei Du and a team of researchers at the WVU Cancer Institute and the School of Pharmacy are using an innovative drug to solve the problem.

WVU hosts inaugural Civil Engineering Challenge Camp

The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University hosted its inaugural Civil Engineering Challenge Camp on June 27-29. The pilot camp, titled Lego Learning Lab: Planning Cities, introduced six elementary school students to basic civil engineering principles by challenging them to build an environmentally friendly city out of Legos. They also incorporated water management systems into their design.

WVU alumnus endows scholarships for future English students

The inspiration from many English teachers motivated Francis McGreevy to endow scholarships for English education. The Dr. Carter Bishop Scholarship will support English undergraduates while the Dr. Carolyn P. Atkins Scholarship will support the Student Athletes Speak Out program in the College of Education and Human Services.

WVU School of Nursing dean reappointed to state nursing board

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has re-appointed Dr. Tara Hulsey, dean of the West Virginia University School of Nursing, to a five-year term on the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses. Hulsey also was re-elected president of the Board.

Justice makes WVU Board of Governors appointments; new officers elected

Gov. Jim Justice has recently appointed two new and reappointed two current members to the West Virginia University Board of Governors. New members are Charleston attorney Timothy C. Bailey and Elmer F. Coppoolse, chief operating officer of The Greenbrier and managing partner of Glade Springs.

Gold Rush, True Blue and Stripe the Stadium announced

West Virginia University’s 2017 football game against East Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 9, will be a Gold Rush, presented by Dan Ryan Builders at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium. All fans are encouraged to wear gold for the home opener.
