Summer is a good time to take online classes and start working on that certificate that will help you get ahead in your career. WVU Continuing Professional Education is offering some of the hottest certificate programs around this summer, including data analysis, project management, digital marketing and social media for business.
Registration is going on now and most of the programs begin in early June.
According to WVU CPE Program Coordinator Sherry Kuehn, the “hot 4” online certificates are the ones that keep gaining popularity and offer the most sought-after skills in the marketplace, according to Learning Resources Network, the world largest association in continuing education and lifelong learning.
“LERN has identified the Data Analysis Certificate as the number one most popular right now and it is likely to remain at the top for a few more years at least,” she said. “Companies have vast amounts of data, but it is rare to have someone with the ability to analyze that data in order to see trends and make predictions.
“Also, the Project Management Certificate has zoomed up to be the second most popular certificate in 2017 so far. Project management skills offer one of the fastest paths to promotion.”
Social Media for Business is also a popular certificate, as is the Digital Marketing Certificate, which gives employees the skills to improve email promotions, analyze website traffic, create search engine optimization and successfully employ online advertising.
“These skills are relevant for any type of organization, including businesses, companies, schools, non-profits and government agencies,” Kuehn said. “And summer is a great time to take online classes. Most of these certificate programs consist of three one-month courses.”

Entrepreneurship Certificate: Learn how to create a business plan, including management and financial plans, how to attract and keep customers and how to build a strong brand.
Presentation Media Certificate: Presentation skills are key to communication, sales, speeches and more. Learn to use Prezi, the new slide software, as well as Photoshop for presentations.
Designing Webinars Certificate: The webinar is a great format for delivering information. This program will teach you the the key strategies and techniques for making high-quality webinars.
Mobile Marketing Certificate: This program covers the basics of location-based marketing, mobile payments, QR codes, applications and mobile coupons, as well as how to implement a mobile marketing plan for your organization.
Video Marketing Certificate: Video marketing is the latest new marketing trend! Learn how to tell your story and connect with others through the use of video.
Google Tools Certificate: Learn about Google Analytics, Google apps for business and Google+. Acquire new tips and techniques for greater productivity and profitability.
