WVU helps students manage stress, anxiety during coronavirus outbreak

As the outbreak of Coronavirus COVID-19 spreads across the globe, the disruption to daily life and uncertainty can lead to stress and anxiety for many. WVU BeWell services, a satellite office of the Carruth Center for Psychological and Psychiatric Services, is reaching out to West Virginia University students to help provide stress reduction and management support.

WVU’S Rural Community Health Scholars seize the opportunity to give back

As Rural Community Health Scholars, more than 30 West Virginia University Health Sciences students will have an opportunity to positively affect the lives of rural and underserved West Virginians. The West Virginia Area Health Education Center Rural Community Health Scholars will learn how to best implement health care services in rural and underserved areas, while receiving hands-on experience and providing meaningful patient care in the field.

Children 1-to-17 will get free dental services provided by West Virginia University Dental Care students at the WVU Pediatric Dentistry Clinic Feb. 7 as part of National Children’s Dental Health Month.

WVU holds leadership role in advancement of water quality and agriculture in West Virginia and beyond

West Virginia University is leading efforts to protect water quality which affects more than 18 million people while advancing agriculture production in West Virginia and across the country. WVU will host the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee members, federal and state government officials and nationally recognized experts Jan. 23-24 to focus on soil health, which is a cornerstone for agricultural productivity and water quality.

Chance encounter fuels student’s interest in film production, provides opportunity to help produce West Virginia-based movie

A chance encounter with a production designer and an invitation to assist in the film production of “Feast of the Seven Fishes” has fueled West Virginia University junior Anthony Basil’s desire to become a producer. Shortly after the industrial engineering major from Weirton accepted the invitation to work on the comedy, he was promoted to production design intern creating an unusual pairing of skills and passions.
