What's the news?

Students in a corporate social responsibility class at West Virginia University’s John Chambers College of Business and Economics will operate as a board of directors that operates a charitable foundation. The class must develop creative solutions to encourage agencies to apply for the grant, then decide how to award the money to support community initiatives. The class is partnered with United Way of Marion and Taylor Counties.

Quotes and Comments:

“Their budgets are different, the organizations that they serve are different, and the people are different so it is a great experience. It really opens me up to new connections and brings more interests from outside agencies who are to know about the CSR initiatives here, so I’m glad about that.” —Suzanne Gosden Kitchen, assistant chair of the Department of Management, John Chambers College of Business and Economics

Recipients of the grants will be announced during an event on Tuesday, March 31.
