WVU’s annual Diversity Week endeavors to promote celebration, education, and understanding of different identities and experiences present on our campus. Each event highlights a particular aspect of identity and explores how it contributes to the rich tapestry of our campus.
A kickoff ceremony will take place in the Mason County Library Thursday (Sept. 12) followed by a visioning workshop where community members can share ideas and opinions about Point Pleasant and its brand.
The West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities and the West Virginians for Affordable Health Care will host a roundtable discussion for challenges and solutions to keep kids healthy during the opioid crisis.
The event will provide banking professionals in the state an opportunity to discuss the current trajectory of the West Virginia banking industry. The summit will be focused around a panel discussion addressing current banking trends and key issues facing the industry. Professionals will have the opportunity to network with Chambers College faculty members and top students at a reception following the Sept. 5 event.
After finding success with Grow Ohio Valley, students in Chambers College professor John Saldanha’s Supply Chain Technology class are expanding their work with food deserts in a new partnership with the West Virginia Department of Agriculture.
Organic Field Day, including workshops, tours of research plots and hands-on activities, will celebrate 20 years of pioneering work in organic farming at West Virginia University.

Students will be integrated into campus life and culture through a series of Welcome Week activities and events designed to introduce them to life as a Mountaineer with a balance of academic, service and social components that will emphasize the importance of working hard, playing smart and serving their new community.
One hundred twenty medical school students will begin orientation and professional development activities this week (July 31-Aug. 8). Most events take place at the WVU Health Sciences Center.
The Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design and WVU Extension Service will host two science, technology, engineering and math camps to showcase the need for and use of these skills in today’s dynamic world.
