WVU president to attend Buckwheat Festival for first time during Preston County leg of ‘Welcome Home Tour’

WHAT: With buckwheat cakes, a New Deal historic site and fun on the agenda, West Virginia University President Michael T. Benson will visit Preston County as part of his inaugural “Welcome Home Tour,” which is taking him to communities across the Mountain State.

WHO: President Benson, University alumni and supporters, and local and community leaders

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 26

• Tour of Arthurdale Heritage
18 Q Road, Arthurdale
8:30-9:30 a.m.

• Visit to Buckwheat Festival
115 Brown Ave., Kingwood
10 a.m. to noon

Members of the media and the public are invited to join President Benson during his time in Preston County.

NOTES: Once he visits Preston County, President Benson will have traveled to 28 West Virginia counties in the 10 weeks since he officially became the University’s 27th president. His goal is to get to all 55 counties by next summer.

More information about future tour dates will be released as details are finalized.
