WVU Chambers College hosts Ethics of AI Panel as part of Distinguished Speaker Series

With the increase in artificial intelligence across industries, the Chambers College Distinguished Speaker Series, in conjunction with Vantage Ventures, is hosting an Ethics in AI Panel. Experts David Fragale, Laure Kornhauser and Tim Duncan will lead a thoughtful discussion on the implications of AI, followed by a Q&A session.

WVU Hardesty Festival of Ideas presents Chris Herren

Chris Herren, former NBA player and advocate for prevention of substance abuse will speak at the Hardesty Festival of Ideas Speakers Series on Wed. Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. Herren will answer questions following the presentation and will be moderated by Frankie Tack, a West Virginia certified advanced addiction counselor.

Holiday shopping comes early this year, WVU expert offers tips and advice to safely navigate holiday shopping on a budget

With major retailers like Amazon and Walmart announcing holiday deals starting as early as mid-October, shoppers are preparing to get a head start on their holiday shopping. Great deals may provide a little normalcy and joy this holiday season, but WVU Extension Service Family and Community Development Agent Lauren Weatherford cautions shoppers about emotional spending. Finding hope and happiness doesn’t have to “break the bank.” It may also be a good time to rethink how you celebrate.

New WVU racial justice grants support community initiatives

Two projects have received funding from racial justice grants awarded by the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences: one focused on poetry and creative writing workshops and the second on studying racial disparities in vaccination rates. The grants support research for social justice initiatives that will engage with the community. The faculty leading these projects hail from both the Eberly College and the School of Public Health.
