Pineville Branding Community Kickoff Event

WHAT: Kickoff event for Pineville, the latest community for BrandJRNY, a West Virginia University Reed College of Media community branding initiative 

WHO: The event will feature remarks by Pineville Mayor Mike Kodak, Wyoming County Economic Development Authority Executive Director Christy Laxton and representatives from Appalachian Power and WVU. 

WHEN: Thursday (Sept.13)

  Opening speakers: 5:30 p.m.

  Community Workshop: 6 p.m.

WHERE: Wyoming County Courthouse, 24 Cedar Ave., Pineville. 

A visioning workshop where community members can share ideas and opinions about Pineville and its brand will follow the kickoff ceremony in the Pineville Courthouse lobby.

Appalachian Power, Pineville and WVU representatives will be available for media interviews after kickoff remarks. They will share information about the community branding process, which involves WVU students working with Pineville community members to identify the town’s unique qualities and create a communications plan and creative materials for long-term brand management. Representatives will also touch on the potential economic, tourism and the educational effect of this project.

The event is free and open to the public. 

The initiative is funded by the American Electric Power Foundation.
