West Virginia businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase opportunities and new ideas at Capitol

WHAT:  Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day at the Capitol 

WHEN: Thursday, March 1, 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: Rotunda, State Capitol, Charleston

INTERVIEW:  Carl Irwin, WVU TransTech Energy director. Arrange an interview with Irwin at the registration desk, 2nd floor Rotunda.

More than 40 businesses and organizations will celebrate our state’s entrepreneurial spirt at the Capitol. Exhibitors and attendees work in fields ranging from energy efficiency to advanced manufacturing and robotics. Entrepreneurial support services include business and financial planning, pitch competitions for start-up companies and assistance with business plan development. Exhibits will be setup in the House and Senate Hallways and around the Capitol Rotunda.

Registration opens at 8:15 a.m. in the second floor Rotunda area. The Awards Luncheon starts at noon in the Attorney General’s Rotunda located on the ground floor, near the east end of the main hallway. Award presentations at 12:15 p.m. include the “Governor’s Award for Excellence in Industrial Energy Efficiency” and the “Governor’s Award for Leadership in Advanced Smart Manufacturing.” TechConnect will also present three “Spirit of Innovation Awards,” for Outstanding Woman in Technology, Innovative Manufacturer of the Year, and the Phoenix Award. The day’s activities end at 3:30 p.m.
