27th WVU president Michael T. Benson pledges to lead by example and with enthusiasm

The new president of West Virginia University will bring three decades of academic and administrative experience in higher education to his role leading West Virginia’s flagship, land-grant higher education institution into a new era. Following contract negotiations after the WVU Board of Governors meeting Feb. 20, Michael T. Benson, the current president of Coastal Carolina University, was officially announced Monday (Feb. 24) as the 27th University president.

WVU BOG advances ‘Pride’ practice facility project

Right on cue, funding is lined up to complete the first phase of a new practice facility for the West Virginia University Mountaineer Marching Band. The WVU Board of Governors approved approximately $1.6 million for the Pride Practice Field and Facility project during a regular meeting Friday (Feb. 21).

WVU Alert: WVU Morgantown Campus to operate on a delay Tuesday (Jan. 7)

Due to inclement weather, on-campus operations for the West Virginia University Morgantown Campus will begin at noon Tuesday (Jan. 7). University employees are instructed to work with their supervisors on the details of their specific work assignments due to the delay.

WVU Alert: WVU Morgantown Campus to be closed Monday (Jan. 6)

On-campus operations for the West Virginia University Morgantown Campus will be closed due to the impending winter storm beginning at 12:01 a.m. Monday (Jan. 6). Employees who work remotely or on a hybrid schedule are not affected and should continue their normal schedule.

Acclaimed WVU doctor and researcher elected to National Academy of Medicine

Dr. Sally Hodder, director of the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute, associate vice president for clinical and translational science at WVU, and Chancellor’s Preeminent Scholar Chair, was elected to the National Academy of Medicine for her accomplishments as an infectious diseases physician and researcher. She is the first person from WVU to be chosen for the National Academy of Medicine.
