35th annual WVU Pumpkin Drop brings gourds and glory to campus

Over 1,000 K-12 students vied for victory at the 35th annual Pumpkin Drop hosted by the West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. This year’s competition — held Friday (Oct. 25) — included 242 teams from 58 schools across West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

WVU plans bell-ringing ceremony to remember students

West Virginia University will hold a bell-ringing ceremony, coordinated by the Office of Campus and Community Life and Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity, on Friday, Nov. 1, in remembrance of McKenzie Wilt and Scott Saylor.

WVU shatters research expenditures record for second consecutive year

For fiscal year 2024, West Virginia University crushed its record in externally supported research expenditures with $275 million — an 82% increase from five years ago. The University’s main strength areas — astrophysics, energy, neuroscience, cancer, forensics and robotics — continue to attract more financial support from federal, state and industry sources as well as private donors.

8 WVU students receive Gilman Scholarships to study abroad

Eight West Virginia University students earned Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships to travel abroad without financial constraints. The competitive national award is funded by the U.S. State Department and allows scholars to participate in transformative study abroad experiences.
