West Virginia University has released its Fall 2021 Dean’s and President’s lists, as well as the list of graduates for the fall semester.

A sea of decorated mortarboards and the sounds of cheers from family and friends and tapping of the University mace will once again fill the West Virginia University Coliseum as December and August graduates gather on Saturday, Dec.18, for two commencement ceremonies, marking a return to Mountaineer tradition.

The amount in external funding for research and other sponsored programs at West Virginia University for fiscal year 2021 tops the previous year’s record by $8 million.

A dedicated attorney, a career educator, a computer software entrepreneur, an engineering professor and a research administrator are among this year’s “Most Loyals” to be honored during the 74th Mountaineer Week on West Virginia University’s campus.

Helping people discover other ways to express themselves is the focus of several students at West Virginia University who, for the first time this fall, are working toward undergraduate degrees in art therapy, curriculum Annie McFarland, assistant professor of art education in the College of Creative Arts, developed.

Celebrating the impact of collaboration and teamwork, West Virginia University Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Meshea L. Poore encouraged all Mountaineers to be intentional about continuing the important work of making WVU a safe, diverse and welcoming community for all during her annual State of Diversity address on Oct. 12.

A weekend of Homecoming activities at West Virginia University culminated Saturday (Oct. 2) with the naming of Raimah Hossain and Kylie A. Parker as the 2021 Homecoming Royalty, marking the start of a new tradition at the University. The 2021 WVU Alumni Association Homecoming and Alumni Service Awards were also presented. The announcements were made during the half-time ceremony at Saturday’s Homecoming football game against Texas Tech.

Six people, including two former West Virginia University presidents, will be honored Friday (Sept. 10) for their loyalty and service to the University as they are inducted into the Order of Vandalia.

Based on the latest guidance from the U.S. Department of Education, West Virginia University will distribute $27,271,733 in emergency grants to eligible students during the 2021-22 academic year.

Following a year of missed milestones, celebrations and traditions, West Virginia University’s first in-person commencement ceremony since December 2019 ushered in a renewed sense of optimism for the nearly 4,500 graduates who walked across the stage to receive their diplomas in four ceremonies this weekend (May 15-16).
