Nearly 4,500 West Virginia University graduates walked across the stage to receive their diplomas as family and friends cheered during 14 commencement ceremonies this weekend (May 12-14) in Morgantown.
The contributions from David Hendrickson, a Charleston attorney, were given through the WVU Foundation in conjunction with the sixth Day of Giving.
“The state of West Virginia University is strong,” President Gordon Gee said during his spring State of the University address on Monday (March 27). “And we will be even stronger in the decades to come, thanks to a concerted focus on what matters most.”
Supporters of West Virginia University donated a record $18.1 million Wednesday (March 22) during the University’s sixth Day of Giving. More than 8,200 gifts were made during the 24-hour online fundraising event held across the University system, also a new record.
West Virginia University supporters on Day of Giving, set for Wednesday (March 22), will have many opportunities to amplify the reach of their gifts through a variety of challenges scheduled for the day.
During the event, West Virginia University will invite alumni, friends and students to collectively make a difference and support the University’s land-grant mission.
The WVU Land Use and Sustainable Development Law Clinic is improving the quality of life for West Virginians across the state by contributing much-needed local government legal services to communities, while also providing meaningful educational opportunities for law students.
In West Virginia’s hills and hollows, its larger cities along interstates and smaller communities on country roads, at ground levels and from broader 365-degree views, West Virginia University students, faculty and staff are working each day in service to the Mountain State.
