Carter wins NABC Defensive Player of the Year

West Virginia University men’s basketball guard Jevon Carter has been named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Defensive Player of the Year at the annual AT&T NABC Guardians of the Game Awards Show on Sunday evening at the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix.

Football season opener moved to Sunday, Sept. 3

West Virginia University and Virginia Tech have announced that their season-opening football game at FedExField in Landover, Maryland, has been moved to Sunday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised nationally by ABC.

The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will conduct its fourth Mountaineer Gear sale on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 10 a.m. - noon, in the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility.

Upper level tickets for West Virginia’s appearance in the 2017 NCAA West Regional remain on sale through the Mountaineer Ticket Office to all 2016-17 Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) members and men’s basketball season ticket holders. The Mountaineers will face No.1-seed Gonzaga on Thursday, March 23 in San Jose, California, at the SAP Center. The game time is 7:39 p.m. ET.

WVU women fall to Maryland in NCAA Second Round

The sixth-seeded West Virginia University women’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a second quarter run by No. 3-seed Maryland, as the Mountaineers fell, 83-56, to the Terrapins in the NCAA Championship Second Round on Sunday at the XFINITY Center.

National champions open WVU Rifle Range

The 2017 NCAA National Champion West Virginia University rifle team will host an open house at the WVU Rifle Range on Tuesday, March 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
