WVU initiatives receive $500K in grants from Benedum Foundation

The Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation recently awarded five grants to West Virginia University, through the WVU Foundation, totaling $540,000. The grants will benefit various programs and initiatives at WVU and across the state.

WVU graduate provides planned gift for physical education students

A West Virginia University graduate who earned a physical education teacher education degree has established a new gift for the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences and the Mountaineer Athletic Club. Sandra and John Marshall have established the planned gift to provide support for students in CPASS, student-athlete scholarships and athletic capital project improvements.

The inspiration from many English teachers motivated Francis McGreevy to endow scholarships for English education. The Dr. Carter Bishop Scholarship will support English undergraduates while the Dr. Carolyn P. Atkins Scholarship will support the Student Athletes Speak Out program in the College of Education and Human Services.

WVU alumni defy boundaries, support geology field camps

Field work experience motivated West Virginia University geology alumni Chris (Ph.D., 1992) and Tammy Christopher (Ph.D., 1991) to support the preparation of future geology students through the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences Geology Field Experience Fund.
