WVU student puts best foot forward with line dancing

Lauren Dysart grew up in Elkview, but West Virginia University was always familiar to her because she spent many weekends in Morgantown embracing the Mountaineer spirit. While the senior marketing major stays busy balancing academics and other extracurricular activities, she considers her role in helping co-found the Country Line Dancing Club one of her proudest accomplishments at WVU.

Taking a different path to WVU

Charleston native Andrea Elkins always dreamed of attending college, but traditional admissions requirements, especially standardized testing, presented a barrier for the differently-abled adult, as she describes herself. That was until West Virginia University became the first public higher education institution in the Mountain State to temporarily, then permanently adopt a test-optional admissions policy.

WVU to celebrate 10th anniversary of Remake Learning Days with expanded effort

West Virginia University and the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative, now in partnership with WVU Extension, are working to broaden the reach of Remake Learning Days, the state’s premier hands-on learning festival which is scheduled for May 17-25. Submissions are being accepted for festival event ideas that will spark curiosity and engage learners.

WVU researchers testing antibody to treat drug-resistant bacteria

West Virginia University microbiologists have identified an antibody that can kill one of the most drug-resistant bacteria. Now, supported by a $3.5 million grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, they want to determine whether it can be combined with other antibiotics to produce a potent treatment against infection.
