WVU College of Law graduates admitted to West Virginia Bar

In the presence of family, friends, and new colleagues, 53 recent WVU Law graduates and others were sworn in October 10 to the state bar at the WV Supreme Court of Appeals and the federal bar for the Southern District of West Virginia.

WVU now part of consortium for increased opportunities in international business education and research

West Virginia University has joined forces with two other notable universities to open the door to new resources in international business education and research. The Robbins Center for Global Business and Strategy, which is housed in the WVU College of Business and Economics, is now part of an international regional business consortium with George Washington University, and is included in its Center for International Business Education and Research.

WVU research team named finalists for international composites award

A research team from West Virginia University has been selected as a finalist for the Awards for Composites Excellence. Hota GangaRao, the Maurice and JoAnn Wadsworth Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering, and doctoral candidate Praveen Majjigapu, have been named finalists in the Most Creative Application category for their NextGen Composite System.

WVU grad student wins AHA fellowship to study diabetes’ effects on the heart

Diabetics are at least twice as likely as nondiabetics to die of heart disease. They’re also at a greater risk of heart attack. With a two-year, $53,000 fellowship from the American Heart Association, Quincy Hathaway, a doctoral candidate in the West Virginia University School of Medicine, is examining how a certain protein, called PNPase, influences mitochondria’s performance in heart cells.

WVU researchers receive $2.38M grant for hybrid imaging system

Two West Virginia University School of Medicine researchers have received $2.38 million from the National Institutes of Health to build a one-of-a-kind pre-clinical imaging system that integrates PET-scan technology with a magnet-based imaging system that’s akin to MRI.
