WVU Board of Governors welcomes Harris and Riggs, hears update on COVID-19 response

West Virginia University Board of Governors Chairman David Alvarez began Friday’s (July 24) special meeting by welcoming Chase Riggs, who replaces Kate Dye as the student representative, as well as Dr. Patrice Harris, who was appointed to the BOG earlier in the day by Gov. Jim Justice. Harris replaces JR Rogers with a term that expires June 30, 2024.

New center for neuroscience research brings together faculty, students across WVU

Just as nerve cells don’t work in isolation when we think, speak or move, neuroscientists don’t work alone when they study the nervous system. WVU is launching the Center for Foundational Neuroscience Research and Education, which will help researchers from across the university collaborate on—and get funding for—neuroscience research. Randy Nelson, who chairs the Department of Neuroscience, will direct it.

More than 150 volunteers now trained in Contact Tracing and Pandemic Response

More than 150 volunteers from throughout West Virginia have now completed Contact Tracing and Pandemic Response, a training developed by the West Virginia University School of Public Health and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Bureau for Public Health in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
