WVU to participate in national study of PhD student outcomes

West Virginia University will be participating as an affiliate partner in a collective effort spearheaded by the Council of Graduate Schools to gather and use data about the careers of Ph.D. students and alumni. The broad-based survey will collect data about Ph.D. careers in both STEM and humanities fields and is funded by the National Science Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Six honored as WVU Foundation Outstanding Teachers

Six West Virginia University faculty members have been selected for the 2017 Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching, which honors exceptional professors who go above and beyond to inspire their students.

Ongoing international partnership highlights sport education, cooperative learning

An ongoing research collaboration to develop teaching and research models brings a global perspective to WVU. Luis Miguel Garcia-Lopez, associate professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain, is on campus until April 30 in an effort to expand his lines of research with Stephen Harvey, associate professor, CPASS physical education teacher education.

WVU awarded $25,000 grant to promote innovations in surgical education

West Virginia University was awarded a $25,000 grant in 2014 by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery to create a project that would promote innovations in surgical education for orthopaedic surgery residents. That project has recently finished, and the research team has found an effective method of teaching residents how to perform a diagnostic knee arthroscopy.
