Barnettes donate Monongalia County family farm to WVU

Longtime supporters of West Virginia University, alumni Curtis H. “Hank” Barnette and his wife, Joanne Harner Barnette, are donating to the University the Harner-Barnette farm which includes 10 acres of land outside Morgantown, a house and related buildings on the property with furnishings, and farm implements.

West Virginia University system welcomes record enrollment

The West Virginia University system began classes Wednesday with record numbers of first-time freshmen enrollment – 6,224 across its three campuses in Morgantown, Beckley and Keyser. The incoming class also features higher test scores and an increase in international students.

Alsop, Congelio to begin new roles Aug. 1

Rob Alsop will officially begin his new role as West Virginia University’s vice president for strategic initiatives effective Tuesday (Aug. 1). Consistent with the transition, Paula Congelio, associate vice president and chief financial officer for WVU Health Sciences, will expand her duties and serve as vice president and chief financial officer for the University also beginning Tuesday.

WVU Board of Governors begins process of increased self-governance

The West Virginia University Board of Governors on Monday (July 10) began the process of enacting new policies and procedures in the wake of the state Legislature’s adoption of laws permitting more independence from the state Higher Education Policy Commission.
