Lyons Signs Mazey to Contract Extension

West Virginia University Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President Shane Lyons has announced a three-year contract extension for baseball coach Randy Mazey that will run through the 2025 season.

WVU Coliseum site of state’s first opioid awareness summit

The Coliseum was the host venue Tuesday (Sept. 17) for the first Opioid Awareness Summit. More than 4,000 high school students from the northern part of the state attended a two-hour presentation featuring Herren, Rhonda Sciortino and Shaun Derik.

Thrasher makes top 30 in NCAA Woman of the Year field

Former rifle standout Ginny Thrasher has been selected as one of the top-30 nominees for the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The Springfield, Virginia, native is the first WVU student-athlete to be selected as a top-30 honoree since the award's inception in 1991. She also is the first rifle athlete to land on the prestigious list.

Chick-fil-A Kids Zone to debut at Mountaineer football games

The Chick-fil-A Kids Zone is a pre-game interactive fan entertainment area located at the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility on the south side of Milan Puskar Stadium. The Chick-fil-A Kids Zone opens 2 1/2 hours prior to kickoff at every home football game (except NC State on Sept. 14) and closes a half-hour prior to game time.

WVU Board of Governors OKs three major construction projects and financing

Citing the need to “improve the quality of student life, enrich academic experience, enhance student services, and respond to students’ needs,” the West Virginia University Board of Governors unanimously approved construction plans Wednesday for three major projects totaling $176 million.

Fan Day set for Saturday, August 3

West Virginia University fans will be given the opportunity to get autographs from their favorite Mountaineer players and coaches and watch practice at the football team's annual Fan Day on Saturday, August 3. New coach Neal Brown, assistant coaches and WVU players will sign autographs and visit with fans from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the west concourse of Milan Puskar Stadium.
