WVU to host North American Power Symposium

Representatives from more than 15 countries will head to West Virginia University Sept. 17-19 for the 49th annual North American Power Symposium at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place. NAPS provides an international forum for participants from academia and industry to present their research and development in power and energy with special attention to the latest advances and challenges in power and energy technologies.

Hall of Fame set for Saturday

The University will hold its 27th annual Sports Hall of Fame induction on Saturday (Sept. 16) prior to the WVU-Delaware State football game. Induction ceremonies will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility. The public is invited to attend and the event is free of charge.

WVU Dept. of History to host 7th annual Sen. Rush D. Holt guest lecture

The Department of History at West Virginia University will feature historian and religious studies scholar Jon Butler for its annual Sen. Rush D. Holt Lecture Series. Butler will present his lecture, “Protestantism, American Religion and the Unanticipated Reformation,” Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in G9 White Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Contura Energy executive to deliver Poundstone Lecture at WVU

Keith Hainer, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Contura Energy, will speak as part of West Virginia University’s Department of Mining Engineering’s William N. Poundstone Lecture Series. The lecture, titled “A Career of Opportunities,” will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in Grand Hall A of the Erickson Alumni Center.
