WVU to ease some campus protocols, mask requirements for classrooms, labs will continue

As infection and hospitalization rates due to the delta variant decrease, West Virginia University will lift mask requirements for individuals in indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status, beginning Thursday, Oct. 21; however, the University will continue to require masks in all classrooms, labs or any WVU System facility or building being used as a classroom for the remainder of the semester.

WVU Community Notice highlights campus resources, education for sexual assault, Title IX

In light of calls for action in recent protests at colleges and universities across the country, including on the Morgantown campus, and as part of an overall commitment to providing a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors, West Virginia University is reminding the campus community of its education and awareness efforts in several key areas including personal safety, sexual assault and other Title IX-related crimes.

UPDATE: Suspect arrested after WVU issues Campus Warning for burglary

West Virginia University students and employees are encouraged to be vigilant as University Police received a report of a burglary on Friday, Oct. 8. University Police has arrested Ivan Pesic, a WVU Facilities employee, for one count of burglary. Officers searched Pesic’s residence and took him into custody. The investigation is ongoing. Pesic will be arraigned later in the day.

Hossain and Parker named WVU Homecoming Royalty, Alumni honors bestowed

A weekend of Homecoming activities at West Virginia University culminated Saturday (Oct. 2) with the naming of Raimah Hossain and Kylie A. Parker as the 2021 Homecoming Royalty, marking the start of a new tradition at the University. The 2021 WVU Alumni Association Homecoming and Alumni Service Awards were also presented. The announcements were made during the half-time ceremony at Saturday’s Homecoming football game against Texas Tech.

An innovative healthcare leader serving local communities and beyond, a long-time program manager who has worked tirelessly to enrich student learning opportunities outside the classroom and a licensed psychologist who has dedicated four decades of her career to the advancement of student mental health services are among the five new inductees to be honored for their outstanding contributions to West Virginia University.

WVU plans bell ringing ceremonies to remember students

For more than two decades, a ceremonial bell ringing has served as a solemn remembrance for West Virginia University students who have died. The tradition was silenced by the COVID-19 pandemic but will return to the Morgantown Campus Oct. 4, 6 and 7 to honor the memory of 19 students.

WVU releases annual Clery Act report

The latest Clery Act report from West Virginia University for the pandemic year of 2020 showed decreases in reported sexual assaults, domestic violence cases and alcohol-related crimes during a time when the campus population in Morgantown was limited because of COVID-19.
