West Virginia University’s interim dean of the College of Creative Arts, Keith Jackson, has been appointed to the position permanently, the WVU Office of the Provost announced today.

Vicki Greene has been appointed director of the West Virginia University Women’s Business Center, to assist entrepreneurs across the state in all stages of business development, with a special focus on women-owned and managed businesses.

In an effort to provide an affordable option for students seeking a graduate degree, the West Virginia University School of Public Health has established the first shared-credit degree program with a program outside of the University system.

The Native American Studies Program at West Virginia University welcomes the public to its 26th anniversary of the Peace Tree Ceremony Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 11:30 a.m. at the Peace Tree, located between Martin and Elizabeth Moore halls. The Mountainlair ballrooms will serve as a rain location for the ceremony.

An interim dean for the West Virginia University Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design will be appointed with the next few weeks, Provost Joyce McConnell said today (Oct. 25), following the announcement of current dean Daniel Robison as dean of Iowa State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

West Virginia University undergraduates looking to fit an extra course into their schedule, who want to boost their GPAs, or who simply want to make the most of their upcoming winter breaks can earn up to three credit hours during WVU Online’s “Winter Intersession,” Dec. 17-Jan. 3.

Gay Stewart, Eberly Distinguished Professor of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Education in the Physics and Astronomy Department of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences and director of the West Virginia University Center for Excellence in STEM Education, is being recognized with the prestigious award, established in 1936, which recognizes an individual who has had an outstanding, widespread and lasting impact on the teaching of physics.

West Virginia University continues to be part of a multimillion dollar effort across a 10-university alliance to support STEM education for underrepresented students in Appalachia.

West Virginia University’s Center for Excellence in STEM Education and West Virginia Forward are working to improve STEM education while encouraging more students to study disciplines that will help build the state’s manufacturing talent pipeline.
