Brown named WVU’s 35th football coach

Neal Brown, one of six FBS coaches to win 10 or more games in each of the last three years, has been named West Virginia University’s 35th head football coach. WVU President Dr. E. Gordon Gee, in conjunction with Director of Athletics Shane Lyons, officially signed Brown to a six-year, $19,050,000 contract.

WVU business student awarded Gilman Scholarship

A student entrepreneur at West Virginia University will learn how to grow his business when he studies in Hong Kong as a Gilman Scholar. Demitrus Jones, a junior majoring in entrepreneurship and innovation in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, will attend Hong Kong Baptist University in the spring semester.

Huggs, Schaus on 2019 Naismith Hall of Fame ballot

Men's basketball coach Bob Huggins is on the ballot for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame for the Class of 2019. The late Fred Schaus, former WVU basketball coach and athletic director, also made the list.

WVU graduate wins prestigious Pickering Fellowship

Jerrica “Ashley” Fox has been awarded a 2019 Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellowship to prepare for a career in the U.S. Foreign Service. Fox is the first West Virginia University alumna to win a Pickering Fellowship in at least a decade.
