Curious about cottontails, WVU researchers hop into hare study

A pair of WVU researchers, Amy Welsh and Chris Rota with the WVU Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, are studying the habits and habitats of two West Virginia lagomorphs: the Appalachian cottontail and the snowshoe hare.

WVU chemist makes insect wing discovery that could advance technology

The key to insect success may be their wings. That’s what West Virginia University researcher Terry Gullion, professor of chemistry in the WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, has learned by studying the chemical composition of insect wings — something that has not been examined in detail until now.

WVU researchers explore alternative sources for space propulsion systems

Satellites and spacecraft are running on empty due to a worldwide shortage of traditional propulsion fuels. In response, two West Virginia University researchers are seeking alternative ways of powering the thrusters that keep satellites in orbit and could potentially drive deep space vessels.
