A West Virginia University legal scholar says current laws may be giving manufacturers of biologic drugs, like antibodies and flu vaccines, too much in the way of legal protections before copycat versions can be sold when compared with traditional small-molecule drugs, including antibiotics and steroids.

For Joseph Watkins, working in a lab and pursuing a career in the field of pathology have been goals since high school. The West Virginia University School of Medicine provides a path into the in-demand profession of histotechnology with one of only 11 programs offered in the United States. After graduation, Watkins said he hopes to earn his histotechnologist certification before beginning the WVU Pathologists’ Assistant program.
Call it a slam dunk: West Virginia University is scoring new opportunities for students to pursue and complete their degrees with a $5 million gift from Steve Ballmer, chairman of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, and his wife, Connie, honoring late Mountaineer great Jerry West. The announcement coincides with Jerry West Day, a celebration of West’s memory and legacy at the WVU men’s basketball game Saturday (Jan. 18) versus Iowa State.
Mannon Gallegly died Jan. 7 at the age of 101, but not before making a huge impact on the Mountain State. A memorial service for Gallegly will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 18) at Wesley United Methodist Church in Morgantown.
