Dedicated alumnus brings experience, leadership to new role for WVU Alumni Association

A successful and creative relationship builder with extensive leadership experience will direct the West Virginia University Alumni Association as it ushers in an exciting new era. Kevin Berry will develop strategic action plans that emphasize alumni engagement, programming, membership, fundraising and communication in his new role as vice president for Alumni Relations and CEO of the Alumni Association.

WVU to hold fifth Day of Giving March 9

West Virginia University alumni, friends and students are invited to come together March 9 in support of the University’s fifth Day of Giving.

Former WVU Director of Athletics Leland Byrd passes away

Dr. Leland E. ("Hammer") Byrd, 94, a resident of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., died at his West Virginia home on Jan. 19, 2022, surrounded by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth, and other loved ones. Leland was known to his family and friends as a true gentleman, who lived his life with class, integrity, generosity and kindness.

WVU issues update following Community Notice

We are grateful there was not an incident on Monday (Dec. 6) as suggested in the anonymous letter the University had received. At this time, safety experts tell WVU it may resume normal operations on campus.

Mountaineer football legend Sam Huff passes away at age 87

Legendary West Virginia University linebacker Sam Huff died Saturday, Nov. 13, in Winchester, Virginia, following years of declining health. President Gordon Gee joined Director of Athletics Shane Lyons in paying homage to Huff.
