With recent decreases in COVID-19 cases across the country and the knowledge that COVID-19 vaccines are extremely safe and effective, West Virginia University now plans to fully reopen its campuses this fall.

With the one-year anniversary of the reopening of Fairmont Medical Center approaching next month, Albert L. Wright, Jr., president and CEO of the West Virginia University Health System and West Virginia University Hospitals, today (June 4) unveiled a plan to expand and grow the medical campus and hospital.

West Virginia University’s fall 2021 semester begins on Wednesday, Aug. 18. While many public health guidelines will remain in effect, there is much hope that we can return to a vibrant campus environment. Our priority for the fall semester is simple: We want to ensure in-person instruction for our students so they can enjoy the full college experience.

Grant aims to reduce overdose deaths by connecting substance users in the emergency department to long-term treatment and recovery resources

Patients with substance use disorder will be able to better connect with emergency department-initiated treatment programs at participating hospitals throughout the state, thanks to a partnership between West Virginia University Office of Health Affairs, Marshall University and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
