Gee praises graduates for overcoming challenges of the last two years

A laudable spirit of perseverance that has sustained Mountaineers for generations was underscored in West Virginia University President Gordon Gee’s address to the August and December 2021 graduates during two commencement ceremonies today (Dec. 18) at the WVU Coliseum.

WVU, WVPEC, W Va. Dept. of Education launch program to make learning STEAM-TACular, bolster lifelong skills

To help students build confidence and gain lifelong skills like critical thinking and problem solving, West Virginia University, the West Virginia Department of Education and the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative have launched a new Technical Assistance Center for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. The new STEAM TAC is currently open to all West Virginia public schools serving sixth through eighth grade students throughout 2022 and aims to expand the program to all students in grades six through twelve in years to come.

Four students referred to WVU Office of Student Conduct for online posts

Four students have been referred to the West Virginia University Office of Student Conduct where they could face disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion. These students were identified as sharing threatening information online and are in violation of the University’s zero-tolerance policy for any behaviors that incite anxiety or fear concerning campus safety.

WVU commencement ceremonies return to Coliseum

A sea of decorated mortarboards and the sounds of cheers from family and friends and tapping of the University mace will once again fill the West Virginia University Coliseum as December and August graduates gather on Saturday, Dec.18, for two commencement ceremonies, marking a return to Mountaineer tradition.

WVU issues update following Community Notice

We are grateful there was not an incident on Monday (Dec. 6) as suggested in the anonymous letter the University had received. At this time, safety experts tell WVU it may resume normal operations on campus.
