WVU outlines employee expectations for the fall semester

As West Virginia University prepares to welcome back students, faculty and staff to campus for the fall 2021 semester, the University has developed plans and guidelines for employees to ensure continued adaptation of new ways of working and operating in as safe a manner as possible.

WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors welcomes new members

Four eminent West Virginia University alumni were appointed to serve the WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors at its fourth quarterly meeting on Friday, June 4. Kamau Brown, Gabrielle St. Léger, Nesha Sanghavi and Monté Williams have been selected to serve six-year terms.

WVU celebrates graduates with in-person commencement

Following a year of missed milestones, celebrations and traditions, West Virginia University’s first in-person commencement ceremony since December 2019 ushered in a renewed sense of optimism for the nearly 4,500 graduates who walked across the stage to receive their diplomas in four ceremonies this weekend (May 15-16).

WVU to hold four in-person commencement ceremonies in May

West Virginia University graduates will return to in-person commencement ceremonies this May; and although some restrictions will be in place because of COVID-19, the celebrations will be no less memorable for the 4,499 who walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. Graduates from May, August and December 2020 are also eligible to participate in the exercises.

Jernigan is first Black woman elected WVU student government president

The campaign for West Virginia University Student Government Association leadership ended Wednesday evening (March 10) as the SGA Judicial Court announced Amaya Jernigan and Hunter Moore as president and vice president, respectively, for the 2021-22 academic year.

WVU to continue distributing emergency CARES grants to students

Eligible, degree-seeking students at any West Virginia University campus can receive emergency grants through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II, part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. WVU will continue distributing its allotted $10,087,116 in emergency grants to students who qualify.

WVU pays tribute to alumnus, longtime supporter George Farmer Jr.

West Virginia University alumnus George R. Farmer Jr. was a successful attorney who devoted his career to carrying on the giving tradition of one of West Virginia’s most celebrated benefactors. In doing so, he helped transform his alma mater and the Morgantown community through impactful philanthropic giving that will be remembered long beyond his passing Monday, at the age of 92.
