West Virginia University issued a Community Notice Sunday (March 16) as damage assessments continued in the aftermath of severe thunderstorms.
Teams with Facilities Management, University Police, Information Technology Systems and others were working in coordination with Mon Power and other outside agencies to identify and address storm effects on buildings, infrastructure and operating systems.
As of Sunday afternoon, power outages were reported on- and off-campus.
Find more information about outages from Mon Power, including restoration status updates.
Service was affected for the WVU Data Center, which serves as a hub for multiple campus operating systems, including wired and wireless internet service. Restoration was largely completed by Sunday evening.
Until that service is fully restored, University Police can be reached by phone at 304-293-2677 (COPS) or 304-581-1993. Non-emergency reports can also be made through the LiveSafe app.
Urgent on-campus Facilities requests should be reported by phone at 304-293-4357. Non-urgent, on-campus Facilities requests can be reported by email at FacilitiesandServices@mail.wvu.edu.
Updates will be provided through University channels, as warranted.
The University’s spring break is underway and continues through Sunday, March 23.
