WVU recognizes ‘Most Loyal’ honorees during Mountaineer Week

Each year, West Virginia University honors dedicated Mountaineers who go above and beyond to positively impact the lives of others and make the University a special place as part of Mountaineer Week. The 2024 recipients are Steve Conrad, Most Loyal West Virginian; Scott Branham, Most Loyal Alumni Mountaineer; Rebecca Fint-Clark, Most Loyal Faculty/Professional Staff; and Donna Staggs, Most Loyal Staff Mountaineer.

WVU scientists using nanotechnology to combat antibiotic-resistant infections

West Virginia University researchers are working to potentially reduce the growing rate of antibiotic-resistant infections in open bone fractures by employing nanotechnology to bolster a centuries-old treatment. The study is supported by a $1.9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.

WVU student Veteran seeks to be the health care provider he needed

Growing up in Glen Dale, West Virginia University sophomore Kenneth Brannan didn’t think college would ever be in his future. So, he signed up for military service and reported for duty shortly after graduating from high school. He served his country in the U.S Air Force as an F-15 crew chief for seven years, including two deployments, but his military career turned out to be riskier on U.S. soil than during the time he spent overseas.

WVU to celebrate Appalachian heritage during Mountaineer Week

West Virginia University celebrates its rich Appalachian roots each year with a week of activities that showcases music, food, and arts and crafts from the Appalachian region. Mountaineer Week, now in its 77th year, begins Monday (Nov. 11) and continues through Sunday, Nov. 17.

Summer internship reinforces WVU student’s passion for helping others

When Alexander Neukam arrived at West Virginia University, he wasn’t entirely sure what path he would take. Like many students, he came in undecided, exploring his options and finding his footing. It wasn’t until a summer conversation after his freshman year with his grandparents, both nurses, that he realized his calling was in health and well-being.
