WVU Alert lifted following reported chemical leak at Agricultural Sciences Building

UPDATE, Oct. 26, 10:50 a.m. — The WVU Agricultural Sciences Building reopened Saturday (Oct. 26) morning after being closed as a precaution earlier in the day for a reported chemical leak. Following investigation of the initial report, no chemical issue was found.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: West Virginia University issued a WVU Alert on Saturday (Oct. 26) following a chemical leak that was reported before 9 a.m. at the Agricultural Sciences Building, located on the Evansdale area of campus.

No injuries were reported.

The building was immediately closed as a precaution.

Teams from WVU Environmental Health and Safety were assessing the situation with support from the WVU Police Department and other departments and agencies.

A WVU Alert is part of the University’s three-tiered emergency notification system.
