WVU to welcome home alumnus as he hosts ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Morgantown Campus

Former Mountaineer kicker and NFL pro Pat McAfee will return to West Virginia University to host “The Pat McAfee Show” live on ESPN2 and YouTube from the Downtown area of campus Friday (Aug. 30).

“We are very excited Pat is bringing his show to Morgantown on Friday. Mountaineers everywhere are proud of Pat and his success,” said Wren Baker, University vice president and director of Athletics. “We are truly grateful for his unbridled passion for his alma mater and his desire to bring attention to WVU, Morgantown and West Virginia.”

The show will be staged from noon to 3 p.m. outside the Life Sciences Building, and air from noon to 2 p.m. on ESPN2 and from 2-3 p.m. on YouTube.

We are happy to have the opportunity for our students to join a proud University graduate as he shares his love for WVU on a national stage,” Dean of Students Corey Farris said. “Pat has always bled gold and blue, and that kind of loyal support for this University is rampant across Mountaineer Nation.”

Fans attending the show in person will be allowed to enter the green space outside the Life Sciences Building starting at 9 a.m. Friday. Overnight camping will not be permitted.

Attendees are encouraged to bring water and to be prepared for warm temperatures. This is an alcohol-free event.

Classes are in session and parking will be limited near the show site.

Parking options include the following:

Downtown area of campus short-term lots:
ST-2, Mountainlair Garage Upper Level
ST-5, Sunnyside
ST-10, Falling Run

Evansdale area of campus short-term lots:
ST-1, Art Museum (near PRT Engineering Station)
ST-4, Student Rec Center (near PRT Engineering and Towers stations)
ST-6, Blaney House
ST-8, Erickson Alumni Center
ST-9, Evansdale Crossing (near PRT Engineering Station)

All WVU-owned or -operated short-term lots are cashless. Parkers can pay via the ParkMobile app or at each lot’s pay station.

The Morgantown Parking Authority also offers hourly parking in garages and surface lots near campus.

Friday PRT hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. The PRT is free for University students and employees. Others are charged 50 cents per ride.

Students and employees with valid WVU ID cards can also travel via Mountain Line Transit buses at no cost.

“The Pat McAfee Show” features special guests from across the sports world, including NFL, NBA and MLB stars, as well as prominent figures in college sports. With McAfee’s work in World Wrestling Entertainment, several WWE superstars have made appearances, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The show allows guests to provide perspectives on pop culture and other topics beyond sports.

“The Pat McAfee Show” will be on campus the day before WVU opens the 2024 football season against Penn State at Milan Puskar Stadium. Kickoff for the Mountaineers and the Nittany Lions is set for noon Saturday (Aug. 31) on Fox.

Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff” will be on-site Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. with the “Big Noon Kickoff Pregame Tailgate.” The show starts at 10 a.m.
