WVU pays tribute to alumnus, longtime supporter George Farmer Jr.

West Virginia University alumnus George R. Farmer Jr. was a successful attorney who devoted his career to carrying on the giving tradition of one of West Virginia’s most celebrated benefactors. In doing so, he helped transform his alma mater and the Morgantown community through impactful philanthropic giving that will be remembered long beyond his passing Monday, at the age of 92.

WVU provides updates ahead of spring semester, which begins Jan. 19

The spring semester begins on Tuesday, Jan. 19, and West Virginia University is sharing details to help students, faculty and staff stay safe and abide by the University’s guidance to protect the campuses and surrounding communities from the spread of COVID-19. The campus community is invited to join a Return to Campus Conversation on Thursday, Jan. 14, from 10-11:30 a.m. to hear from administrators and public health experts and ask them questions.

No spectators for athletic events through Jan. 24

The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, in conjunction with University, local and state officials, has extended the time period for no fans at all home indoor athletic events through Jan. 24.

WVU holds off Army to snap 3-game bowl losing skid
