WVU engineers receive funding to improve methane sensor technology in longwall mines

Despite longwall mining being an efficient way of extracting coal, it produces dangerous methane gas that has the potential to lead to explosions in underground mines. Researchers from West Virginia University are combatting this issue by developing an improved methane monitoring network to increase the safety of longwall mines.

Kansas game to be televised on FS1 at noon

The Big 12 Conference has announced that WVU's Saturday, Oct. 17 Big 12 Conference football game against Kansas at Milan Puskar Stadium will be televised on FS1 at noon ET.

WVU Diversity Week offers variety of virtual events

West Virginia University’s annual Diversity Week (Oct. 11-16), while an online event, will broach the subjects of justice for indigenous peoples, people with disabilities and people in the LGBTQIA+ community from its daily keynote speakers and student panels that explore intimate partner violence preventions, Hispanic and Latinx student issues, the Black Lives Matter movement and student advocacy.
