West Virginia University President Gordon Gee wants to start a “revolution of benevolence.”
In this edition of Gee Mail, our bowtie-wearing president embraces Random Acts of Kindness Month (February) by shouting niceties to passersby, handing out cookies and issuing kinder, gentler parking violations. And, as the cherry on top, he did it on Valentine’s Day.

But with the month winding down, Gee reminds us it’s in our Mountaineer nature to keep kindness running at all times.
“Three of our core Mountaineer values are service, respect and appreciation – all relative to how Mountaineers take care of one another,” Gee said.
“So, let’s not get hung up on a month or day that promotes kindness. It’s a quality instilled in our inner being that pours out at just the right moments. We are one West Virginia University. And when it comes to kindness, we go first.”
