West Virginia University will induct three new members into the Order of Vandalia, the University’s highest honor for outstanding service and loyalty, Friday (June 7) at the Erickson Alumni Center.
The ceremony includes a remembrance of the Vandalians who have died during the past year and celebrates the contributions of all the Order’s members.
The inductees join more than 180 well-known, and not-so-well known, recipients, including Sen. Jay Rockefeller (2009), Sen. Robert C. Byrd (1992), Carolyn Eberly Blaney (1995), Joseph C. Gluck (1980), John T. Chambers (1977), Earl L. Core (1982), Joan Corson Stamp (2013) and Milan Puskar (2003).
The 2019 inductees are:
- Joyce Butler Allen is a member of the Blaney House Visiting Committee, a 20-year member of the Advisory Board for the College of Creative Arts, a member of the Board of Trustees at Davis and Elkins College for more than 25 years. She was named a Most Loyal West Virginian in 2006.
- Mohindar Singh Seehra is an emeritus professor in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences after 47 years on the faculty and was the first recipient of only two Sloan Fellows in the history of the state of West Virginia. He endowed the annual Seehra Lecture dealing with the issues of work-life balance for women.
- Fred Tattersall, the founder of both Tattersall Advisory Group and 1607 Capital Partners, is a former member of the WVU Foundation Board of Directors and a 2019 inductee of the WVU Academy of Distinguished Alumni. He is a primary supporter of The Founders Club, a student-managed investment club within the John Chambers College of Business and Economics.
