WVU Eye Institute expands, names prominent cornea specialist as director

West Virginia University has named Thomas Mauger to lead the WVU Eye Institute and serve as chair for the Department of Ophthalmology. He will also serve as associate dean for practice plan integration. Mauger is joined by his spouse, Carol Laxson, who will serve as assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and as the director of diabetic retinopathy screening and prevention.

WVU Barbour County 4-H wins national land judging title, continues program’s success

This year, the Barbour County 4-H team won the national land judging championship while their 4-H peers from Clay County placed third in the nation. One of those Barbour County 4-H’ers won the highest individual honors. This comes on the heels of the Monroe County 4-H’ers that claimed the 2017 national championship, adding to the pedigree of recent West Virginia 4-H teams.

Yet again, Einstein’s theory passes the test with flying colors

An international team of astronomers, which includes Duncan Lorimer, West Virginia University professor of physics and astronomy, has tested Einstein’s theory using three stars orbiting each other: a neutron star and two white dwarfs. Their findings, published in “Nature”, prove that Einstein’s theory still passes the test in such extreme conditions.
