The recruiting season is winding down for West Virginia University, but it may not be the sort of recruiting you're thinking about.
WVU President Gordon Gee is scouting for talent all across the region by visiting high schools and hosting “Ask Us Anything” events to join the Class of 2022.
One of Gee's latest stops was at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, W.Va., where he met with prospective students and their families from West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Though many had already committed to WVU, he wanted to express his appreciation and enthusiasm to them for taking the first steps to become Mountaineers.
“We have been hosting these ‘Ask Us Anything’ events to give prospective students and their families an opportunity to learn more about our world-class, research, land-grant institution,” Gee said. “And we want to make the University soar even higher. That involves attracting the best and brightest talent to join our Mountaineer family. We are willing to venture outside of our backyard in Morgantown to convince people that West Virginia University is, indeed, the Goldilocks University.”
