WVU plans Friday bell-ringing ceremony

WVU will hold a bell-ringing service to honor two deceased students Friday.

West Virginia University will hold a bell-ringing ceremony, coordinated by the Office of Campus and Community Life and Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity, on Friday (Feb. 16) in remembrance of students Leah Berhanu and Ibrahim Alkammis.

Berhanu, 21, a civil engineering major from Morgantown, died Feb. 1; and Alkammis, 26, a business and economics major from Saudi Arabia, died Jan. 20.

The service will begin around noon at Oglebay Plaza on WVU’s downtown campus, and those interested in attending are asked to be there at least 15 minutes beforehand. Family, friends and members of the University community are welcome to attend Friday’s ceremony.
