WVU to hold inaugural Day of Giving Nov. 8

One day. The words suggest a moment and a future. Both are being emphasized on Nov. 8 as West Virginia University is reaching out to students, alumni and friends, encouraging them to make a gift – especially ones that go to the general, unrestricted needs of the University and its schools and colleges. The WVU Foundation is organizing the University’s inaugural Day of Giving, 24-hour online fundraising effort, as a simple way for University supporters to contribute to the Foundation’s “State of Minds” Campaign.

Baylor football game time set for 8 p.m.

The Big 12 Conference has announced that WVU's Saturday, Oct. 21, Big 12 Conference football game against Baylor at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, will be televised on FS2 at 8 p.m.. ET.

Tent City returns for WVU Homecoming

The fourth annual Tent City is making a comeback this week in celebration of West Virginia University Homecoming and the Mountaineer’s first 2017 Big 12 Conference football season home game. WVU students will begin erecting tents Tuesday (Oct. 10) at 8 a.m. on the Mountainlair Plaza and will camp until noon on Friday (Oct. 13) in anticipation of the 2017 Homecoming football weekend.

WVU to participate in elite NAE Grand Challenge Scholars Program

West Virginia University has been designated as part of the National Academy of Engineering’s Grand Challenge Scholars Program, a combined curricular and extra-curricular program with five components that are designed to prepare students to address the grand challenges facing society in this century.

WVU awarded $1 million grant from NSF for new High Performance Computing cluster

A three-year National Science Foundation grant totaling nearly $1 million will let West Virginia University develop its next-generation High Performance Computing, or HPC, cluster to advance computationally intensive research in a wide array of fields, from drug delivery to genomics and astrophysics.
