West Virginia University Dining Services announced plans to open the quick-service restaurant Which Wich Superior Sandwiches in the Mountainlair.
The restaurant, scheduled to open in April, offers more than 50 varieties of customizable sandwiches. The menu will also include chips, hand-dipped shakes and cookies.
“We researched a lot of options to decide what restaurant would be best for the Mountainlair,” said David Friend, director of Dining Services. “Students have been communicating for some time that they wanted a healthier, tastier option in the Mountainlair and the new Which Wich partnership will add a wide variety of choices, including healthier selections and vegetarian alternatives at a quick-service pace.”
Which Wich, a Dallas based franchise, is best known for its creative self-ordering system where customers use a Sharpie to mark their requests on a paper sandwich bag. Sandwiches are then returned to the customer in the bag they originally marked to ensure that custom orders are clearly communicated and quickly fulfilled, keeping the wait time to a minimum.
The franchise won the Menu Masters Award for Healthful Innovations in 2015.
Which Wich will accept Dining Plan Swipes for dinner, as well as Dining Dollars, Mountie Bounty, credit, debit and cash without time restrictions.
