WVU Welcome Week focused on helping students connect

WVU Welcome Week events, which run from Wednesday (Aug. 12) through Aug. 23, provide ways for both new and returning students to find hobbies, meet people, and discover all that’s in store for them on campus. WHAT: West Virginia University will welcome home new and returning students with Welcome Week events across the Morgantown Campus from Aug. 12-23.

WHO: Students will have opportunities to participate in activities and events that showcase Mountaineer life with academic, social, and service elements to help them make a home on campus while having fun.

KEY EVENTS:

Thursday, Aug. 13, to Saturday, Aug. 15

  • Residence halls move-ins — 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 14

  • Midnight Mountaineer — 8 p.m. to midnight at the Student Recreation Center.
    Students will participate in yard games, archery tag, pickleball, crafts, bingo, trivia, and more for prizes.

Saturday, Aug. 15

  • Mountaineer Bash — 7-10 p.m. Evansdale Residential Complex, Courts and Lawn
    This event includes games, music, food, giveaways, pickleball, sand volleyball, basketball, yard games, fitness challenges, and tie-dyeing.

Sunday, Aug. 16

  • Student Organization Fair — 2-4 p.m. for all students at the Student Recreation Center
    This event is hosted by WVU Student Engagement and Leadership to showcase hundreds of different organizations within the University.

Monday, Aug. 17

  • Mountaineer Midway and Movie — 6-10 p.m. Life Sciences Building, Quad Area

    Carnival games, prizes, custom souvenirs, food trucks, and outdoor entertainment will be offered at the event. Students can ride the Ferris wheel, play Free Money Game Show, enjoy classic treats like cotton candy and funnel cakes while supplies last, and find a spot on the lawn for the movie.

Tuesday, Aug. 18

  • First day of classes
