WVU president tour stops in Nicholas County rescheduled due to weather

WHAT: West Virginia University President Michael T. Benson will take his “Welcome Home Tour” of the Mountain State to Nicholas County on Monday, Dec. 15. Events previously scheduled for Dec. 8 were canceled due to weather.

WHO: President Benson, Summersville Mayor Robert Shafer and other local and community leaders, University alumni and supporters

WHEN AND WHERE: Monday, Dec. 15

Media members are invited to the following tour events:

• City of Summersville lunch and reception for President Benson
Noon to 1:45 p.m.
Summersville Arena and Conference Center
3 Armory Way, Summersville

• Visit to WVU Medicine Summersville Regional Medical Center
2 p.m.
400 Fairview Heights Road, Summersville

NOTES: President Benson has traveled across West Virginia since taking over as the University’s 27th president in July. With the addition of Nicholas County, he will have visited 35 of the 55 counties. His goal is to get to them all by next summer.

Information about 2026 tour dates will be released as details are finalized.
