WVU supporters invited to State Capitol for West Virginia Day event

WHAT: West Virginia University will take over part of the State Capitol to mark West Virginia’s 161st birthday, celebrating the strong ties that bind the Mountain State to its flagship higher education institution — West Virginia’s University.

WHO: Braden Adkins, the 70th Mountaineer mascot, University officials, Mountaineer Alumni and friends

WHEN and WHERE: Thursday, June 20

• 11:30 a.m.
Join the Mountaineer mascot on the steps of the State Capitol — 1900 Kanawha Blvd. East, Charleston — for a meet-and-greet event, and show your Mountaineer pride by wearing gold and blue for a photo and video shoot.

• 12:30 p.m.
Join members of the WVU Alumni Association Greater Kanawha Chapter at Fife Street Brewing — 180 Summers St., Charleston — for a celebratory gathering.
