WHAT: School students in grades K-12 from across West Virginia will continue their education and explore STEM concepts at West Virginia University by attending one of several Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources 2023 Engineering Challenge Camps.
While on campus, students will explore mechanical and aerospace, civil, computer science and electrical, mining, chemical and biomedical, industrial and petroleum and natural gas engineering.
WHEN:
Elementary school camps — June 12-16, July 10-14 and July 24-28
Middle school camps — June 12-16, July 10-14 and July 24-28
High school workshops — June 12-16, June 26-30 and July 17-21
WHERE: 1306 Evansdale Drive, Morgantown
NOTES:
Elementary school camps:
The 2023 theme for elementary school camps is “FUNdamentals of Engineering” where campers will learn how to block code to control drones and create models to print on a 3D printer. Elementary camps run as week-long, half-day camps with first, second and third grades attending from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and fourth and fifth grades attending from 1-5 p.m. Projects will be different than previous years.
Middle school camps:
The 2023 theme for middle school camps is “Constructing Your Community,” where campers will build model towns to investigate the ways engineering ties into our communities. Middle school camps run as week-long, full-day camps, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Projects will be different than previous years.
High school camps:
High School workshops run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with themes this year including engineering in sports, entertainment and health care.
